FAQ:
What if you could stop smoking or using tobacco products:
WOULD YOU DO IT? Are you ready to:
HYPNOSIS IS A GREAT TOOL TO HELP You can use hypnosis to reprogram your powerful subconscious mind to change your thoughts and behavior. You will not have to rely on willpower or substitutes to help you stop smoking for good. It's not magic, but it is truly amazing. You can stop smoking, dipping or chewing tobacco, or using nicotine replacement products, IF you have taken the time to prepare and are now ready to make the commitment to stop for good. Hypnosis will help reinforce you goal of being a non-smoker or non-dipper, but you must commit to getting rid of all cigarettes and tobacco and resolve to follow the program as outlined. Remember, hypnosis is a wonderful tool to make it easier, but it cannot make you do anything you do not want to do. Read on for more details about the Smoking/Tobacco Cessation Program using hypnosis to help you become a confident, carefree non-smoker. HYPNOSIS PLUS – HOW IS THIS PROGRAM DIFFERENT? In addition to hypnosis, you will be given educational materials, including a wonderful eye-opening audio book, which you will be expected to read or listen to before your second session. This audio book ($20 value) is six hours on CD's and is included with your first session. It helps dispel the myths of why you smoked, why you haven't quit and why willpower alone rarely works. By the time you are nearing the end of the book, your fears have been removed and you are ready to move forward with the rest of your life as a non-smoker without feeling deprived and without "needing" nicotine ever again. It is not necessary to get rid of your cigarettes before your first session as you are allowed to continue smoking while reading the book. This allows you to observe your attitudes, behavior, taste, how you feel, etc. Mrs. Harwell's one-on-one sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs. Please allow about two hours for the first appointment. You can save some time by downloading the Client Information Sheet and having it filled out before you come in. PLEASE NOTE: It is not necessary to get rid of your cigarettes before your first session. You will be given specific instructions regarding your "last cigarette." The first part of the session includes an explanation of how hypnosis works, how it helps you stop smoking and time to go over your information. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions before having your first relaxing hypnosis session. My Smoking Cessation Program uses a multi-session approach. The number of sessions required may vary and will be discussed with you. The sessions are generally structured as follows but can be customized as needed: Preparation to Quit - Hypnosis is used at the first session to introduce you to hypnosis and to reinforce and strengthen your commitment and confidence to become a non-smoker. The Last Cigarette - Your second session is scheduled after you have finished reading the audio book and when you are ready to have your last cigarette. It is the actual Stop Smoking session. Reinforcement - Your next session is scheduled within three to seven days after your final cigarette. Adjusting to new routines and stress management is added to this session. Reinforcement during this transitional period is crucial and an important key to your success. If needed, additional reinforcement sessions are available at a special discount for the smoking cessation program only.
Hypnosis has been proven to be the most effective means of smoking cessation. According to the "American Journal of clinical Hypnotherapy," in a 1968 study involving 1000 smokers, after using three hypnosis sessions, 94% were still nonsmokers after 18 months. In 1992, "New Scientist Magazine" reported success rates for the various methods of smoking cessation: 60% were successful with only one hypnosis session and 30% using only a recorded hypnosis session. Compare that to 24% who used only acupuncture, 29% with exercise and breathing therapy, 25% with aversion therapy, 10% with nicotine replacement therapy (gum or patches), and 6% who used willpower alone. SHOULD YOU QUIT SMOKING BEFORE OR AFTER WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM? Many smokers are more afraid of gaining weight after they stop smoking than they are of contracting a deadly disease if they continue to smoke. Consider this: FACT: Additional weight gain is usually due to eating as a substitute for smoking. In the early days after quitting, ex-smokers may mistake that “restless” feeling for hunger. The average weight gain of five pounds is due to the return of the sense of taste and smell and the normalizing of the metabolism. You will be given suggestions not to substitute food for smoking. FACT: Smokers who are overweight and keep smoking, tend to remain overweight. The best time to quit smoking is NOW-before you start a weight loss program. You'll be even less willing to risk weight gain after you have lost the excess weight. FACT: Stopping smoking is the single healthiest thing you can do for your body. It adds ten years to your life! Your blood vessels are no longer constricted, your heart doesn't have to work as hard, your circulation improves, cholesterol is lowered and high blood pressure is lowered. Diabetics are better able to control their blood sugars. The lining of your lungs begins to cleanse and heal, allowing you to breathe easier. Your doctor will be ecstatic! FACT: You will be able to exercise easier as a nonsmoker because you'll be able to breathe easier and have more energy and stamina. |
