I do not attempt to diagnose or treat disease or mental disorders of any kind. Clients are never advised to go against medical instructions. Hypnosis in no way replaces standard medical procedures, but works in conjunction with them by freeing the patient of feelings and attitudes that may be inhibiting his or her response to them. Through hypnosis, one uses the natural faculties of the mind to reduce stress, create a positive attitude, boost the immune system, increase patient compliance, and visualize a state of wellness allowing the patient to make the most of the medical help available.

More and more people are asking their physicians for information on various complementary or alternative therapies. A survey conducted by the American Medical Association found that 58% of the physicians were in favor of their patients using complementary therapies. As many as 66% of patients surveyed by the American Medical Association are using complementary therapies. The highest percentages of utilization are those with chronic illnesses for which traditional therapies offer little relief or hope—chronic pain, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, arthritis, psoriasis, insomnia, and more. Some other chronic conditions are vastly improved with the help of hypnosis, such as diabetes, by increasing patient compliance with diet, exercise, medications and blood sugar testing and stress reduction. Hypnosis can assist in overcoming addictions, when used in conjunction with a substance abuse program, by providing motivation, reducing withdrawal symptoms, and increasing self-esteem, with forgiveness and releasing techniques to let go of the past and move forward with a positive attitude.

I believe that individuals have the right to choose, or practice, alternative or complementary self-improvement services. Hypnosis is safe and non-invasive. It is a tool that you can use to help yourself. The services I render are held out to the public as a form of motivational coaching and education, combined with instruction in self-hypnosis. I do not represent my services as any form of health care, psychotherapy or counseling and despite research to the contrary, by law I may make no health benefit claims for my services. Hypnosis is not meant to be a substitute for psychological or professional counseling. If you have an ongoing mental health problem, please consult a professional licensed by your state. As a consulting hypnotist certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists and other professional organizations, I use hypnosis to motivate clients to eliminate negative or unwanted habits, facilitate the learning process, improve memory and concentration, develop self-confidence, eliminate stage fright, improve athletic ability, reduce stress, and for other social, educational and cultural endeavors of a non-medical nature. In general, I help people to cope with ordinary problems of everyday living.

MEDICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH RELATED: Clients must have a signed, Medical Referral from their licensed medical or mental health professional for chronic pain management, certain chronic medical disorders, or mental health conditions (such as depression, anxiety or panic disorders). The convenient form below may be used, or the physician may simply write the required information on a prescription pad or letterhead. This information is required before the first session. This assures me that the appropriate professional has been consulted and is aware of your desire to use hypnosis to increase your own natural resources through visualization, progressive relaxation, and positive attitude. At no time would we want to mask any symptoms before a proper medical diagnosis has been made and/or necessary medical treatment administered. I am very happy to answer any questions the physician may have and to work with them in any way.

NON-MEDICAL HYPNOSIS: Hypnosis for NON-MEDICAL conditions or normal, everyday problems DO NOT require a referral form. Clients may self-refer for smoking cessation, weight loss, stress reduction, positive attitude, more restful sleep, confidence, changing/establishing habits, motivation, visualizing wellness and positive outcome, etc.

I do not accept any insurance and other third party claims are not filed. Most insurance companies consider hypnosis as alternative therapy and usually do not pay for it. However, upon request, I will provide a statement. Some company Flexible Spending Accounts or Employee Benefit Plans may consider reimbursement for Smoking Cessation, Weight Loss, etc. Check with your employer.
