MY APPROACH I believe that individuals have the right to choose or practice alternative or non-mainstream therapies. Hypnosis is a safe, non-invasive tool you can use to help yourself. The services I offer are a form of motivational coaching, education, and instruction in self-hypnosis. I do not represent my services as any form of health care or psychotherapy and, despite research to the contrary, by law I may make no health benefit claims for my services. I use hypnosis to motivate my clients to eliminate negative or unwanted habits, facilitate the learning process, improve memory and concentration, develop self-confidence, eliminate stage fright, improve athletic ability, and for other social, educational and cultural endeavors of a non-medical nature. In general, I help people to cope with the normal problems of everyday living by utilizing various hypnosis techniques, NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP), and guided visualization. Certain medical conditions may be improved with hypnosis by relieving tension and stress, improving sleep, and creating positive expectations. Sessions for pain management or other medical related conditions will require written physician approval. A convenient referral form is provided. WHY I BECAME A HYPNOTIST In early 2000, I decided to leave the doctors' group practice where I had been the office manager for nine years and start my own business - I thought massage therapy - or something better. Just as my replacement was to start, my mother was hospitalized. When she was diagnosed with inoperable kidney cancer, I began to search for alternative healing methods to help her "think herself well." In my research, I discovered the benefits of hypnosis and guided visualization. I had never been interested in hypnosis before, thinking of it only as stage hypnosis for entertainment. However, things moved very quickly and she was gone within a matter of months. A few months later, an interesting thing occurred. I received a brochure in the mail from Anne King's Hypnosis School in Boerne, Texas (www.hypnosisclasses.com). I never knew there were hypnosis schools, much less one so close. I knew immediately that this was a sign that I was supposed to do this and that hypnosis was my calling. I enrolled in her next series of classes and became a Certified Hypnotist on February 1, 2001. DISCLAIMER: The State of Texas has not adopted any educational and training standards for the practice of Hypnotism. The above statement of credentials is for informational purposes only. Under Texas law a hypnotist may not provide a medical diagnosis or recommend discontinuance of medically prescribed treatments. Hypnosis is not a substitute for professional counseling or psychotherapy. If you have a mental health condition you should contact a licensed mental health professional. Hypnosis is safe and non-invasive. My services are meant to be used as tools to create motivation for positive change, eliminate negative habits, and reduce stress. |
